William "Cowboy"

“I’m a survivor and I go on.” – William “Cowboy”

William was only 12 years old when his mother threw him out of the house. He then lived with his aunts most of his life. At the age of 14 he got a job and started working for himself. Growing up he always wanted to be a truck driver. One of his happiest moments was when he met Elvis Presley. One of his saddest moments in his life was when he lost his mother. William is very grateful because the Lord, as he said, gave him another chance after having three strokes and one heart attack.

Goal in life is to get a good education
Important influence: My parents and sisters
Grateful for: Having people that support me

Before taking this class, I never understood why homeless people were homeless. Now I try my best to understand their situation before judging them because they are just like us. I chose these colors for my painting because William is strong and I chose purple to show his strong personality. The bright sky shows that even after his battles there is still happiness in his life.
